On the 9th September, 2014 the Children, Youth and Families Amendment (Permanent Care and Other Matters) Act 2014 received Royal Assent. The 2014 Act makes significant changes to the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 (Vic). The chnages come into effect on the 1st March 2016

The changes to the law abolish a number of existing orders and introduce a number of new Children’s Court orders, including the introduction of mandated timelines within which reunification of children placed in out of home care must be achieved failing which a Care by Secretary or other order is to be made.
